Today on July 11, 2021, Ontario has officially come out of lockdowns, but what does this mean for your shipments?
Ontario was in lockdowns since April, 2021 and that has caused a lot of backup and delays throughout Ontario's logistics. But this has primarily affects non-essential imports.
Because of how importing into Canada works right now, essential or priority classifications of imports are done first, and non-essential or low-priority are put on the backburner until import brokers and companies have time for clearing those. What this has caused is a huge backlog of imported packages waiting for clearance.
We predict it will be many months until Canada's import system is caught up and back to regular hours.
For those of you who are still wishing to purchase products from overseas and have them imported into Canada, be aware that some parcels can have a delay. If you want to ensure that your items are not delayed, consider sending it an express shipping method like air shipping through DHL, Fedex, or UPS.
