Vancouver is the port of entry for Ontario imports by ocean.
Containers that are going to Ontairo that arrive by sea have to dock in Vancouver, Canada first.
Once the boat has docked, the container gets unloaded there then put onto the CN rail train line where it heads into Toronto, Ontario (by train) to begin clearance and get assigned a broker firm to import for you.
With Vancouver now imposing new restrictions, this is potentially going to affect shipments on-route to Ontario. Imports can expect to see delays of at least 7 days moving forward at the Vancouver port.
Word in the logistics world is that there is a boat queue system now. There is a lot of boats sitting outside Vancouver that are waiting to dock and unload and the delays could potentially get worse.
